Hot spot & wind conditions
São Miguel do Gostoso has only recently become a popular tourist destination, but it has excellent possibilities for windsurfing and kitesurfing: flat water when the tide is low, cool waves on the reef, the most wonderful beaches, and surfing almost all year round.
Hot spot: Ponto do Santo Cristo
The São Miguel do Gostoso area is both safe and pleasant to use. The sandy beaches and the crystal clear waters attract every passionate practiser of water sports. This aspect is especially valid for Ponto do Santo Cristo, where all surfcenters are located.
The particular shape of the coast - also called the corner of Brazil - and the help of a thermic effect makes this place one of the windiest of the planet. Only the rains in May and June decrease a little the average of windy days.
Wind conditions:
From July to March: 80-90% of days with at least 15 knots.
Windy days: 20-25 knots.
Remark: in July and August the wind can be off shore and gusty.
Swell: from October to March some north swells are possible, creating wonderful conditions for waveriding.
